Alice Dollar
Newspaper in Education Manager, Knoxville News-Sentinel

Alice Dollar is Manager of the Knoxville News-Sentinel in Education Program, an innovative initiative designed to leverage the educational value of reading the newspaper in the classroom. Research shows that using the newspaper with students improves their community awareness, academic skills, current-events knowledge and citizenship while at the same time helping students prepare for career opportunities. With over 15 years in education, Dollar has used her valuable experiences to develop a curriculum to teach children how to properly interact with animals, with emphasis on caring for pets. She is co-author of the book, Introduction to the Newspaper for fourth and fifth grade students and has received numerous awards.
