To date membership of PAWSitive InterAction includes Atlanta's
premier thought leaders who serve animals locally - each of
who is uniquely committed to celebrating the human-animal
bond through their ongoing work in our community (noted below
in alphabetical order):
- Atlanta
Humane Society: Founded in 1873, the Society exists
for the purpose of preventing cruelty, relieving suffering
, providing humane treatment for animals, and encouraging
the human/animal bond on a regional basis in the state of
Georgia.
- Happy
Tails Pet Therapy: Happy Tails Pet Therapy: Since 1991,
Happy Tails volunteers and their certified therapy animals
have visited pet-lovers in healthcare facilities, social
agencies and special needs programs around Atlanta. People
of all ages benefit from the positive physical, emotional
and mental impacts of these visits.
- Merial:
An innovation-driven animal-health leader, Merial is committed
to enhancing the health and well-being of animals. Merial
is the world's leading veterinary pharmaceutical company
now located in the Atlanta area - and was founded in 1997
through the merger of the animal health businesses of pharmaceutical
giants Merck & Co. Inc. and Aventis S.A.
- Pets
Are Loving Support (P.A.L.S.): Founded in 1990, P.A.L.S.
is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide
ongoing care and support for pets of persons living with
HIV/AIDS, critical illnesses and other disabilities in the
Atlanta area. With this help, pets and owners may remain
together to share the healing power of love and companionship
that stems from the human-animal bond.
- Zoo
Atlanta: Zoo Atlanta is empowered to exhibit, interpret,
study and care for wildlife in superior environments, to
conserve biodiversity throughout the world, to educate,
enlighten and entertain the public and to contribute to
the cultural life of the community.
